The Wagner Society welcomes West Edge Opera Music Director Jonathan Khuner who will introduce us to “Legend of the Ring”. West Edge Opera has presented this condensed Ring twice before. The upcoming encore presentation will be considerably different than the previous productions. This time West Edge will present Legend of the Ring in a “real theater” with a pit area for a larger orchestra so Khuner has augmented the score with additional music and musicians.
He will present his talk at the piano with musical excerpts and arias by Elisabeth Rosenberg who, with Maestro Khuner, will give the Society a guided tour through Brünnhilde’s journey. The program will include a few excerpts from each of the four segments of Legend of the Ring. The presentation will show Brünnhilde’s development through vocal characterization, beginning with the carefree exuberance of “Hojotoh!” through her solemn embrace of immolation.
