Parsifal – Two Films

For this meeting we will screen two films: Parsifal, Indiana Jones and Richard Wagner (2004) and Parsifal – Porter/Edison Film (1904). What a difference 100 years makes!
Parsifal, Indiana Jones and Richard Wagner by documentary filmmaker Werner Boote traces the journey of the Holy Grail from the Holy Land to Spain under the guardianship of the Knights Templar. The 2004 Vienna Staatsoper Parsifal production by Christina Mielitz, conducted by Donald Runnicles provides the back drop for the film. Running time is approximately 60 minutes
Parsifal (1904) Parsifal is a 1904 American silent film produced by the Edison Manufacturing Company and directed by Edwin S. Porter. It is based on the 1882 opera Parsifal by Richard Wagner, and stars Adelaide Fitz-Allen as Kundry and Robert Whittier as Parsifal. Running time is approximately 24 minutes
