Parsifal, a true religious opera?
September 28, 2019 - 8:00 am

Saturday September 28, 2019 1:00 p.m. JCC-SF 3200 California Street, San Francisco, CA
The Wagner Society of Northern California is proud to welcome returning guest speaker Dr. John Mastrogiovanni, Chairman of the Wagner Society of Southern California.
Parsifal, a true religious opera? In his talk Mastrogiovani will consider the concept of redemption in Parsifal: are they Christian or Buddhist beliefs? He will consider what ways Wagner’s operas evidence Wagner’s own Christian belief. This could range from mocking abstinence in Das Liebesverbot all the way to the battle of Elsa and Ortrud in Lohengrin.
JCC-SF 3200 California Street San Francisco, CA 2nd Floor Gallanter Hall
Program is free to WSNC members and there is a suggested donation of $10 for non-members
