Wagner in his Youth: How Beethoven and Bellini won his heart – EVENT CANCELED

Dramaturg Emeritus of the San Francisco Opera and Musicologist, Kip Cranna, will present a talk Wagner In His Youth: How Beethoven and Bellini Won His Heart.
The Young Richard Wagner was influenced by many different styles in his early years. San Francisco Opera’s Dramaturg Emeritus Kip Cranna will explore the life and works of the teenage and twenty-something composer and conductor, with video excerpts to illustrate the early influences on the future operatic giant, sampling early compositions inspired by Beethoven and the Bel Canto Composers.
Dr. Clifford (Kip) Cranna is Dramaturg Emeritus for San Francisco Opera. Dr. Cranna served the company since 1979 and for over 30 years was Director of Music Administration dealing with educational and community outreach projects, commissions of new operas, and musicological support to the staff.
