The Bayreuther Festspiele goes on tour – for the first time in many years

The Bayreuther Festspiele will take 3 of its 2012 productions the beautiful Gran Teatre de Liceu, in Barcelona, Spain. Built on La Rambla in 1847, Licieu has a long tradition of presenting Wagner and is a center for culture and the arts in Barcelona.

This fall Liceu will present Tristan und Isolde, Lohengrin and Der fliegende Holländer all in concert version. The dates are: Holländer Sept 1 and 4; Lohengrin September 2 and 5 and Tristan September 6 (only one performance).

These concert performances will feature many of the singers from the Bayreuth Festival

Holländer: Evgeny Nikitin, Ricarda Merbeth, Michael König, Franz-Josef Selig, Benjamin Bruns and Christa Mayer; Sepastian Weigle conducts. Der fliegende Holländer was first performed at the Liceu in 1885.

Tristan und Isolde:  Iréne Theorin, Robert Dean Smith, Michelle Breedt, Jukka Rasilainen, Robert Holl, Ralf Lukas, Clemens Bieber, Arnold Bezuyen and Martin Snell, Peter Schneider conducts. Tristan und Isolde was first performed at the Liceu in 1899

Lohengrin: Klaus Florian Vogt, Annette Dasch, Susan Maclean, Thomas J. Mayer, Wilhelm Schwinghammer, Samuel Youn, Stefan Heibach, Willem van der Heyden, Rainer Zaun and Christian Tschelebiew, Sebastian Weigle conducts. Lohengrin was first performed at the Liceu in 1883.
