The Pocket Opera Company (Nürnberg) Germany’s oldest independent and mobile music theater has been streaming past opera productions on YouTube for the last couple of months as a ways to keep the art of opera going during the Corona crises. Our online „POC Festival“ will reach its crowning finale this Saturday July 25 with a unique rarity surely to be of interest to the distinguished members of any Wagner society: Not purely by chance coinciding with the original opening day of this year’s cancelled Bayreuth Festival we will stream a complete video recording of Wagner’s Singspiel fragment „Männerlist größer als Frauenlist oder Die glückliche Bärenfamilie“ („Men are more cunning than women or The happy bear family“, 1837/38) that we completed and premiered in 2013. The stream will be broadcasted on YouTube on July 25 at 8:15pm (CET) and can be accessed via this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEqIe62Bi3s . A synopsis of the opera’s story and the English abstract of an essay about the work/production will be available on our website (www.pocket-opera.de) before Saturday. The DVD of the complete video recording can be purchased for 20 Euro (plus 5 Euro for international shipping) and comes with an extensive program bill including the libretto.
