Cal Performances December 3, 2017 3:00 p.m. Hertz Hall on the U.C. Berkeley Campus
WSNC Grant Awardee Simon O’Neill will sing works from Wagner, Strauss and Beethoven
These Three Kiwis (they all hail from New Zealand) were all participants in the San Francisco Opera Merola Program. Simon O’Neill was a WSNC Grant Recipient who has gone on to a spectacular international career in the Wagner Repertory. His only main stage performance with San Francisco was in the role of Chairman Mao Tse Tung in John Adams’ Nixon in China. This is a rare opportunity to hear this international Wagner star here in the Bay Area.
O’Neill will sing works from Beethoven, Strauss and Wagner (including the Wesendonck Lieder). His colleagues Amitai and Pene Pati will sing works from Donizetti, Bellini, Mozart and Cilea.
