The great Wagnerian Jon Vickers died yesterday from Alzheimer’s disease. Many feel that Jon Vickers was the greatest interpreter of heroic roles ever to take the stage.

He sang Tristan, Parsifal, Siegmund, Florestan, Peter Grimes, Enee, Otello and countless other roles with distinction. He sang over 200 performances at the Metropolitan Opera House and distinguished himself in opera houses the world over. Below is a link to the New York Times Obituary.
