We have a set of musical bookends as it were. Der fliegende Holländer in the very far West and eastern U.S.

In the far, far West, Hawaii Opera Theater will give 3 performances of Holländer on February 13, 15 and 17. With some terrific singers well known to San Franciscans: Former Adler Fellow Melody Moore, Jay Hunter Morris and rising star Ryan McKinney, this production will be conducted byJohn Keenan. Washington National Opera revives its Dutchman with a cast which includes Eric Owens, Jay Hunter Morris, Christiane Libor and Ain Anger conducted by Philipe Auguin – March 7 through March 21. It seems that Jay Hunter Morris is literally flying from one Erik to another.

And if you are in Washington D.C. during the run of the Flying Dutchman, Wagner Society of Washington DC offers two programs of note:

Thursday March 12 at 7:30 p.m. Eric Owens will be interviewed by Peter Russell. This event takes palce at the Arts Club of Washington – fee is $70 per person

Sunday March 15 at 7:30 p.m. the WS-DC will host a banquet honoring Jay Hunter Morris – the fee is $250 per person. This event also takes place at the Arts Club of Washington.
