Seattle Opera just revealed its 2015-2016 season, the first under the helm of new General Director Aidan Lang. For those who were wondering if Lang would continue to keep the works of Richard Wagner in the repertory, there is good news. Lang has come through for the Wagnerians!
The 2015-2016 season includes Der fliegende Holländer which will be performed in May 2016. Lang has also managed to cast two Seattle favorites in the leading roles: Greer Grimsley will sing Holländer and Alwyn Mellor will sing the role of Senta and Daniel Sumegi as Daland in a production designed by Christopher Alden. Sebastian Lang Lessing will conduct the performances.
The Seattle Opera season also includes Nabucco, Mary Stuart (Maria Stuarda), Le Nozze di Figaro, The Pearl Fishers and a new opera An American Dream by composer Jack Perla with a libretto by Jessica Murphy Moo.
