We just received word from Speight Jenkins that he will be teaching a course for Stanford Continuing Studies. Here’s the message from Speight:
I have no idea whether you or any of your fellow Wagner Society of Northern California friends would be interested–although I hope so–but I wanted you to know that I am teaching a course at Stanford Continuing Studies in the winter quarter coming up. The first course is a survey of opera.
I called it “Four Hundred Years of Opera: Murder, Passion, Betrayal, and Ecstasy.” Registration for the Winter starts on December 1. This is the first of three years. The classes are Monday evening from 7 to 8:50 (January 12, 26, February 2, 9, and 23), and I am happy to say that they are going to let me have a Q & A afterwards in the same room.
I just wanted to make sure my friends in the Bay Area in the Wagner Society knew about this. Fee is $215 per person.
The next two courses (in 2016 and 2017) will be in the same period, i.e. Winter Quarter. Check it out here and there is also syllabus:
