Placido Domingo’s Operalia Final Round will be webcast live from Los Angeles on Saturday August 30th at 7:00 PDT. The final competition will be webcast live on Among this year’s finalists is 2012 Merola participant, tenor Yi Li. Past Operalia winners include: Rolando Villazon, Joyce Di Donato, Erwin Schrott, Elizabeth Futral, Ana Maria Martinez, Nina Stemme, Susanna Phillips and Jose Cura.

Many of thise singers have appeared in San Francisco and also on the great opera stages the world over. Last year’s top prize winner was former Adler Fellow Ao Li.

The prizes are terrific for these great young artists: 1st prize $30,000 each for best male and female artist; 2nd prize $20,000 each for male and female; 3rd prize $10,000 each for male and female.

Additional prizes include: 2 Birgit Nilsson Awards of $15,000 each for the best singers in the Wagner and Strauss vocal fach; 2 Zarzuela prizes each $10,000 in honor of the parents of Placido Domingo and 2 audience prizes for male and female which is the gift of a Rolex watch.
