The Seattle Opera has just announced that there will be a special concert celebrating the career of the outgoing General Director Speight Jenkins. This Farewell Gala will take place, on August 9, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Marion Oliver McCaw Theater. Seattle Opera has gathered together a group of great singers who will present a musical tribute to Jenkins. Excerpts from various operas will range from Bizet to Wagner.

The list of singers includes: Stephanie Blythe, Greer Grimsley, William Burden, Francesco Demura, Nuccia Focile, Clifton Forbis, Christiane Libor, Alwyn Mellor, Kate Lindsey, Peter Rose, Brett Polegato, Arthur Woodley and the Master of Ceremonies is the inimitable Joyce Castle. This is a performing arts presentation and the artists are subject to change.

There will be light hors d’oeuvre and a champagne toast to Speight Jenkins at intermission.

The Tribute to Jenkins is adjacent to the International Wagner Competition which will be held on August 7th at 7:30 p.m. This is a an opportunity to see two star-studded events together as an extended week-end trip to Seattle.
