Very sad news for members of the Wagner Society of Northern California. Our much beloved member and contributor as a speaker, Professor Conrad Susa, died in his sleep on November 21, he was 78 years old.
Susa was on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music since 1988. He was also a prolific composer of many works, notably Dangerous Liasons which had its debut at the San Francisco Opera and Transformations which was recently performed by the Merola Program and soon after at the Wexford Festival. Susa also composed choral works and one of his favorite subjects, children’s lullaby music.
Conrad Susa was of great assistance to the Wagner Society in his role as a speaker but also as a liason with the Conservatory so that the Wagner Society could present concerts in the new Conservatory venue.
His enthusiasm and understanding of the works of Wagner will be sorely missed by the Society. Here is the obituary from the San Francisco Chronicle.
