A recent article in the New York Times is touting the Wagner Festival in Budapest, Hungary as an excellent and low cost option to Bayreuth.

The brain child of conductor Adam Fischer, this is the fifth year performances of Wagner’s music dramas are being performed semi-staged in the beautiful Palace of Arts Theater. Maestro Fischer himself is a a Bayreuth veteran and he is able to draw many of his colleagues from the fabled green hill.
