“When Mommy says make for Bayreuth, I must make for Bayreuth”
Just recently it was announced that German artist Jonathan Meese will direct the new production of Parsifal for the Bayreuther Festspiele 2016, Andris Nelsons will conduct. Meese quickly posted to his website a collage of his ideas and photos of himself with the Wagner Sisters. It appears that some of his ideas come from a retrospective exhibit of Meese’s art in Hamburg in 2005.

Meese, aged 42, has designed theatrical sets at the Volksbuehne Theater. He also created a much-lauded sets for Wolfgang Rhim’s opera Dionysus presented at the Salzburg Festival.
