The First Wagner Opera Broadcast – NOT from the Metropolitan Opera
It was broadcast not from New York or London but from Buenos Aires, and it was not from Teatro Colon but from Teatro Coliseo. The composers name was listed as Riccardo Wagner. The first broadcast of a complete opera by Wagner, on August 27, 1920, was “Parsifal.”
This item was originally posed on Opera-L on July 26th which was the anniversary of the premiere of Parsifal – back in 1882, in Bayreuth.
