The plucky opera company, Verismo Opera, is taking a plunge into the Rhine and will present 6 performances of Das Rheingold in three venues in the greater Bay Area, Pacifica, Vallejo and Berkeley.  This venture was brought to our attention by one of the cast members who is also a member of the Wagner Society – Rick Bogart, who will sing the role of Mime.

From their website:  “Verismo Opera company presents theater for the community at affordable prices.  Performances are in a classical chamber music setting that provides an intimate dramatic feeling with a distinctive personal touch.  Instead of using an expensive opera house, we perform in smaller theater venues with singers, costumes, a small set and a chamber orchestra”  This sounds really delightful.
