WSNC E-Notes March, 2011 Addendum
Hi, Folks,
I have a few things that I need to add, clarify, or correct.
For starters, Adler Fellowship alum Daveda Karanas’ Schwabacher Recital (Wesendonck Lieder) will be held at Temple Emanu-El’s Martin Meyer Sanctuary on Lake at Arguello, not at the Opera House, as I alluded to. The info is here on the WSNC web site calendar, but I failed to scroll down to get the correct address (tickets for it can be purchased at the SFO Box Office).
It will be held on April 10 at 5:30 pm.

TALE OF TWO SYMPOSIA
Another thing that has come up is some confusion over seminars. The Wagner Society of Northern California and the San Francisco Opera are both offering Ring symposia during the three cycles. These are separate events.
The WSNC’s symposia are all-day events on the Saturdays of each cycle (the day off between Siegfried and Götterdämmerung). WSNC symposia presume a working knowledge of the Ring and Wagner lore and attempt to probe their murky depths. Cost is $55 ($65 non-member), box lunch included. You can sign up for the WSNC seminar on the Wagner Society website http://www.wagnersf.org/content/special-events
Please be advised: Registrations are being made at a very brisk pace and over 1/3 of the seats are filled.
The San Francisco Opera is offering a short-day basic seminar series that covers an intro to the Ring and discussion of this production. It will be held Tuesdays – the day of the Rheingold performance (June 14, 21, 28). Cost is $40 plus $9 registration fee, lunch not included. They suggest that if you already know the story of the Ring, you may want to skip the morning session. Sign up for the SF Opera’s seminar on their web site:

Hope this clears things up.

NEW BUSINESS: I will be having surgery sometime in the next week, so I won’t be answering much email for a while. But the iPad my sweet husband got me for xmas has 3G, so I’ll be able to log on from the hospital and keep up with things if there’s a problem.
If you want to be removed from this list, just contact me at trish.wsnc@gmail.com
